The Professional or Commercial Skipper Liability Insurance is for you the most important insurance when commanding a yacht!
It covers the personal liability risk of the skipper. Personal injury and damage to property and the resulting financial losses are insured up to the amount of the sum stated in the police.

Valid for 12 months:
The Professional Skipper can select up to 17 meter or up to 21 meter yachts for a maximum of 10 trips per season.

The Commercial Skipper can select from tariffs up to 17 meter, up to 21 meter or more than 21 meter. There are no limits for the amount of trips.

Also insured are

• Claims by the charter company for damage to the boat due to gross negligence
• the use of the dinghy
• Deposit to avoid confiscation of the boat up to EUR 60,000
• water damage

A deductible of 150 EUR applies for each insured event.

Insurance terminology: What is actually Gross Negligence?

Gross negligence is an extreme form of negligence, involving a reckless disregard for the safety or well-being of others. It goes beyond simple carelessness and often includes a conscious indifference to the potential consequences of one’s actions. This point is otherwise determined by the insurance company or the courts.

In the event of gross negligence, we pay up to the sum insured. Other providers do not do this. Particularly important: financial losses, e.g. pensions or compensation following bodily injury, are also insured up to the coverage sum. This is often not the case with others.

Damage to the rudder, a tear in the sail, a broken hatch – it can all be repaired. But who pays for it? The guilty party? Or everyone? And then the argument starts and the fun on the trip is gone.

– You have the choice: single cover for one trip OR 12 months cover for as many trips as you like!
– The deductible (excess) is only 5% of the claim amount, at least EUR 50
– for light wind sails (gennaker etc.) 20% min. 250 EUR
– for regattas 5% of the amount of damage at least 200€

Please note: The sum insured under the CHARTER CAUTION INSURANCE must always be at least as high as the deposit paid, otherwise there is underinsurance. In this case, damages will only be settled in the ratio of the sum insured to the deposit amount agreed in the charter contract, which would be disadvantageous for you.
